Harnessing Technology | Enabling Hope
Asian Alliance Radiation & Oncology (AARO) is a Singapore Oncology Specialist Group focusing on targeted and non-invasive technologies for cancer treatment.

AARO also provides general oncology services focusing on wellness, prevention, cancer survivorship and specialised programs to manage cancer treatment side effects.
Today, with a multidisciplinary team of oncologists and healthcare professionals from various Cancer Centers in Singapore who are well-versed in the latest cancer treatments and trends, AARO is able to provide best practices and care for our patients.

Pham, our young brain tumour patient from Vietnam underwent Stereotactic Radiosurgery with AARO in 2020. Due to the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions, Pham and her family were unable to return to Singapore for follow up consultations. Through VOC, Dr Daniel was able to order follow-up MRI scans to be done in Vietnam and arrange for them to be sent over to Singapore, where the scans were read and compared with pre-treatment scans. Post-treatment scans in December 2020 showed both tumor and cyst shrinkage much to everyone’s relief.

Better Survival is Achievable #throughyourhands
In celebration of International Childhood Cancer Day 2022, we pay tribute to our healthcare team who have helped and continue to help our brave young patients fight a battle bigger than themselves.

In 2020, Dr Jonathan met 7-year-old Anh Quan who was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumour in kids. Dr Jonathan determined he needed 6 weeks of craniospinal radiotherapy, followed by chemotherapy, to achieve a good chance of cure. Together with the family, he accompanied his young patient to Apollo Proton Centre in Chennai, India for Proton Therapy treatment, which was the ideal form of radiotherapy for Anh Quan. Dr Jonathan remained in Chennai for a couple of days to ensure that the Proton Therapy treatment planning went smoothly. Dr Jonathan’s commitment and expertise brought much comfort to the family as they fought a strange illness, in a strange land and during stranger times (COVID-19).
Caught up in the travel difficulties due to COVID-19, after completing Proton Therapy, Anh Quan bravely continued the chemotherapy treatment in Apollo till completion almost 1 year later. It is a testament of the resilience, both mental and physical, of children that never fails to inspire those around them.
Seeing Anh Quan recover well and regain his zest for life brings brings much joy and comfort to Dr Jonathan.
Thank you Dr Jonathan Teh, for making a difference in the lives of our young ones, our future. Their lives are made better #throughyourhands.
